This combo program equips you with unmatched versatility and prepares you for roles in doctors’ offices, inpatient/outpatient labs, hospitals, mobile health exam companies, urgent care facilities, specialty clinics, emergency departments, and more.

As a Blood Lab Specialist, you will perform blood specimen collections using dermal punctures, winged infusion sets, venipunctures, and syringes, as well as other specimen collections such as stool and urine. You’ll have the knowledge to complete insurance paperwork and requisitions as well as the ability to count red and white blood cells and identify the growth of bacteria with the use of a microscope. In this exciting field you will work autonomously in a lab to ensure the proper handling of all specimens and accuracy of information.


Program Highlights

Phlebotomy Technician Plus+

Builds on core phlebotomy skills with advanced laboratory techniques, including blood smear slide preparation, microscopic observation, incubator‑based sample prep, urine evaluations, and blood typing.

Graduates earn a certificate of completion and are eligible for NHA national certification.

Clinical Lab Assistant

Learn specimen accessioning, basic hematology & chemistry testing, lab safety, equipment maintenance, and lab information system (LIS) workflows.

 

Blood Lab Specialist

Master a variety of collection methods, dermal punctures, winged infusion sets, venipuncture, and syringe draws, as well as stool and urine specimen handling. Gain skills in cell counts, slide staining, and bacteria identification under the microscope.
