Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Training Course at Larock Healthcare Academy
Larock Healthcare Academy offers a hands-on approach to training students to become Medical Billing and Coding Specialists. During this 225-clock hour program, students will practice with their classmates to learn the various Medical Billing and Coding Specialist skills they will use daily in their new careers. Larock’s future Medical Billing and Coding Specialist graduates will practice medical billing procedures, anatomy and physiology and insurance claims processing. CPT Coding and ICD-10 coding are a couple of the other topics of content covered in the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist class.
Upon successful completion of the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program, students will be given the option to test for a national certification awarded through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) to become a Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS). Becoming a certified healthcare professional is strongly encouraged. Employment is not contingent upon it; however, it will make a new graduate more competitive in the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist job market.
Training in the Classroom
Larock Healthcare Academy educates its students enrolled in the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program with a curriculum developed by our team of experienced instructors and educators. Instructor-led lectures are presented with Larock’s Medical Billing and Coding Specialist PowerPoint presentation as well as 3 different books on the subject matter.
During lecture, students are provided with handouts, workbook exercises, homework and evaluated through various methods such as quizzes and tests. Typically, students spend the first 2-½ hours in lecture and the last 1-½ practicing Medical Billing and Coding Specialist skills in a Simulation and Skills Laboratory.
Training in the Simulation & Skills Laboratory
Instructors encourage students to begin developing and start practicing Medical Billing and Coding Specialist procedures beginning on the second module of class. During the 1-½ hour lab session students will work on computer’s provided to them. Student’s will learn different programs and software for the Medical Billing and Coding profession. Larock’s medical supplies and equipment meets and exceeds healthcare industry standards to ensure students are practicing with the same supplies they’ll use in their careers.
Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) Certification from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
Graduates of Larock’s state-approved program will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS). This national certification opens the door to many different job opportunities as well as shows dedication and proficiency in each field of your choice.
