New Year’s Resolution

New Year’s Resolutions!

Four resolutions to achieve a fresh career start!

It’s that time of year, winter is here, the Holidays are fast approaching and it’s time to begin thinking of positive changes and New Year’s resolutions. For many of us, our careers will be a major part of the changes and the fresh starts we resolve to do. The four New Year’s resolutions, below, can help . . . .

New Year’s Resolution #1 – “I will have better eating habits in 2015”
Eating healthy foods: fresh vegetables, fruits and lean proteins, for example, helps brain health, improves mood and gives you more energy. Unhealthy processed foods have been shown to do just the opposite, along with generating many health problems.
Increasing brain health and improving your mood can help you figure out what you would like to do, what steps you need to take, and then put them into practice immediately to obtain your career goals.

New Year’s Resolution #2 – “I will exercise more in 2015:
Exercising more does many of the same things as healthier eating does, such as improving your mood and feeling more energetic. This will help you achieve a positive outlook towards your career. As a general rule, experts say, 30 minutes at least 3 times a week is a good place to start.

New Year’s Resolution #3 – “I will quit my bad habit of ______________”
Procrastination seems to be one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions people declare. Another popular one is tardiness; showing up late on a regular basis. Both of these, and others, can cause stress and, therefore, negatively affect your success, hence, your career. Replacing any bad habit with a good one, should be part of your New Year’s resolution, too. If it’s procrastination, make a list of what needs to be done, such as, doing research on post-secondary programs that can help you obtain your dreams. As you check off the items on your list, it will empower you to complete the next task, and so on . . .

New Year’s Resolution #4 – “I will stop waiting for good things to happen”
The old saying, “good things just don’t fall out of the sky”, or “nothing gets handed to me on a silver platter” is so true. Only you can stand up and make positive changes. Changing or starting your career by going back to school will enhance your chances at job success and you can feel good about taking charge and handing yourself your own “silver platter”. Many schools have classes beginning in January, so you can make that New Year’s resolution and put it on your list to check off.
